Slaughtering is an important part of the process leading up to the moment when you will be able to place a tasty pork cut on your plate. When an animal is slaughtered in a humane way, it doesn’t get stressed, which in turn makes sure it produces tasty meat. Since Danis manages the entire supply chain, it is also possible to trace your meat at any time.

The slaughterhouse operates in complete transparency. There are cameras everywhere; all activities are recorded. A representative of the Belgian Federal Agency for Food Safety is always present on the slaughter floor. Flanders Animal Welfare inspectors also visit the slaughter hall regularly, in the context of planned or surprise inspections.

Hygiene is our top priority. Every day the entire slaughterhouse is cleaned by a cleaning team. The slaughterhouse has its own lab which is accredited by BELAC, the Belgian Accreditation Body, to test meat for trichinella. In addition, bacteriological checks are also conducted on cleaning and general hygiene.

Exportslachthuis De Coster is 51 (slaughterhouse) and 51/2 (cutting plant) certified for EU exports. In addition to the slaughterhouse, the company has its own cutting and packing plant with its own freezers to guarantee quality during overseas transport.
